Purpose

The Gold Coast Mission Fund was established for a few purposes.  Everything the Gold Coast Mission Fund does is designed to honor God by fulfilling the commission He left for His church.

Making DisciplesThe first part of the commission is to “…make disciples…”  By financially supporting the native brethren in Ghana this allows them to focus their attention on spreading the gospel rather than spending time working outside of the church.  Though this fund is not designed to provide their entire income of our brethren, it is meant to help them provide the basic necessities.

Baptize them:  Once the gospel has been preached and people have been saved, the second part of the great commission is to, “baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost…”  This is to be carried out by the authority of one of the Lord’s churches and preferably administered by an ordained minister of the gospel.

Teaching them: After a person is saved and baptized into the Lord’s local church it is essential that the final part of the Great Commission is carried out, “…teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.”  The Gold Coast Mission Fund is focused on this last part of the commission.  To teach the Word of God to those which have been saved so they might progressively grow more sanctified and better live out their salvation.

By focusing our attention on the last part of the commission, we hope to equip native churches and missionaries to more effectively spread the gospel in their country.  Though cross-cultural missionaries have an important role in spreading the gospel, they are often ill-equipped to effectively spread the gospel due to natural barriers such as language, cultural misunderstandings, and time constraints.
